How to play
- Black plays first, then white, one stone at a time on an empty point where the lines cross. P1 is you, the player who opened the app, and plays black. A second player joins by clicking the screen and takes white.
- Only the player whose turn it is can play. Point at the board and a ring marks where a stone could go: no ring means the move is not allowed. Stones your move would capture wear red rings.
- The stone played last wears an amber ring, so you can find the move you are answering.
- A stone, or a connected group of stones, with no empty point beside it is captured and removed from the board.
- No suicide: you cannot place a stone that would be captured at once, unless it captures something first.
- Ko: you cannot play a move that brings back the position as it was immediately before your opponent's last move.
- Pass instead of placing a stone. Two passes in a row end the game.
Scoring
- Your total is your stones on the board plus the empty points only you surround. An empty area touching both colours counts for neither.
- White gets 7.5 points of komi to make up for moving second, so there is never a tie.
- The higher total wins. Each side's record is shown in its column.
Ending the game
- The game ends after two passes in a row.
- End concedes the game to your opponent once a stone has been placed. Before the first stone, and after a game is over, the same button reads New and deals a fresh board.
- Undo takes back the last move or pass, and either player may press it. It is hidden until a move has been played and stops working once the game is over.
